2008 Colores Del Sol Reserva Malbec, Argentina, $12

With the weather starting to heat up, I have been enjoying the grill much more especially with steaks. This Malbec is a perfect pairing with any hearty meal especially red meat. It starts with a great nose full of blue berries, spice and a leather note. The flavors stand up and shine, layers of dark plum and blackberries followed by white pepper, and finishing off with a rustic earthiness. On the finish there are hints of mocha and leather oak notes that really pull all of the flavors together nicely. This is a perfect full bodied with for summer menus, delivering great fruit flavors and spice, but still soft enough not to weigh you down with eighty degree weather.
