Now this is a terrific porter, starts a nose full of smoky hops and layers of cocoa powder and coffee. These aromas follow into the flavors and continue to develop, with additional layers of dark caramel, burnt sugar and nutmeg. The finish had a nice malt and bitterness that balanced out the flavors, and there were subtle hints of anise and hops. This is an extremely well made beer with the flavors integrated perfectly and every sip reintroducing all of the flavors. This beer would work well with smoked chicken or turkey, or for a fun twist use it with a chocolate dessert.
