Abita Purple Haze, Louisiana 4.75% Alcohol $8 6 pack
This is one of Abita’s signature beers; Purple Haze is touted as their raspberry beer. I found this to be true without tasting like a fruit soda. The aromas were great subtle hints of raspberry and vanilla balanced with layers of wheat notes. In the mouth the raspberry was just a whisper of flavor with mostly wheat and vanilla and subtle notes of lemon on the finish. All of these flavors along with the raspberry complimented each other perfectly. A great match for a spring or summer evening with a cookout and friends.
