2007 Festival 34 Central Coast Chardonnay, California $13

The name for this winery comes a festival that was held in 1943 to celebrate the first harvest after the repeal of prohibition, which was dubbed “Festival 43”. This was a nice break from the oak laden Chardonnay that have been flowing back into the market lately, with aromas of white pears and citrus starting off the tasting experience. The flavors were perfectly balanced with a slight hint of toast and vanilla kept in check by yellow apples and lemon zest notes. The finish was clean and smooth and reinforced all the great flavors.  A perfect match for seafood or chicken dishes.
