2003 Kendall Jackson Pinot Noir, California $14.00

Kendall Jackson does it again, creating a great wine that is well within everyone’s budget. This Pinot Noir is full of flavor and quality, making it taste like a much more expensive wine. Aromas of spice and berries fill the glass giving you a hint of what is to come. Plum and earthiness are softened with light hints of vanilla. This is a medium bodied wine that is packed full of flavor with a great softness to each sip.

We enjoyed this wine with pork kabobs marinated in a soy and sesame seed coating. The tenderness of the pork with the slight saltiness of the marinade married perfectly with the wine. We also had mushrooms, peppers and onion that highlighted the hints of spice and earthiness of the wine. This Pinot Noir would also work well with grilled salmon, allowing the flavors of the fish to shine through with the wine as an accompaniment.

Kendall Jackson has been producing great value driven wines for years now, and each vintage I am still amazed how the great flavors are consistent and delicious. Started by Jess Jackson a lawyer, turned winemaker he has built a name that shines on quality. This winery is still family owned with many of his children involved in the business. Kendall Jackson also owns numerous properties around the world that all produce great wines for value prices.
