2002 Cousino Macul Chardonnay, Chile $12

What a great Chardonnay from Chile, packing loads of flavor and keeping the acidity in balance. Aromas of yellow apples and hints of oak fill the glass leading into a great fruit packed Chardonnay. The flavors are abound in this wine, layers of pears, lemon zest and apples are all framed with whispers of toasted oak and butter. The finish leaves you wondering how they packed all these great flavors into one bottle.

With all these flavors the menu choices are numerous. We enjoyed this Chardonnay with an herb roasted chicken. The mixture of herbs and the slow roasted flavors of the chicken were a match made in heaven. You could also use this wine with a cream sauce and pasta. Another way to enjoy this wine is with a friend and relaxing and some light cheese.

This winery was started in 1856 and has been family owned since now it its sixth generation. In 1996 the family bought additional property for a new and modern facility, thus allowing the winery to continue to grow and focus on its exceptional quality wines. It is one of the oldest wineries in Chile and has always been known for exceptional quality and great prices.
