2007 TAZ Pinot Gris, California $17

This wine offers loads of flavors and depth for a great price, a real winner in each sip. Aromas of honeysuckle and pears fill the glass, and get the taste buds revved up for the first sip. The flavors coated the tongue in waves, layers of peach, almond, and tropical notes start the tasting experience with the finish tapering in with lemon zest and a subtle mineral note. The contrast of flavors married together perfectly and kept each sip as fresh and exciting as the first.

This wine will work well with many different summer meals, anything from salads to fresh seafood. We enjoyed our bottle with grilled grouper topped with a load of treasures from our local farmers market; a topping of fresh melon, cilantro, tomatoes and jalapeno peppers. The sweetness of the fruit and and tanginess of the herbs and peppers allowed each flavor sensation in the wine to shine. It was a meal made in heaven.

The winemaker for this property is Natasha Boffman, who has worked at some of the best wineries in California and Australia. Her philosophy is simple, "wine is an expression of the vineyard", and with each sip it is evident in the quality of the wine. They also make some exceptional pinot noirs.

Cheers!
