2006 Kenwood Russian River Pinot Noir, California $20
Aromas of red raspberries and an earthiness fills the glass,a classic Pinot Noir trait, letting you know that this is a wine with soft butelegant flavors. The tastes were outstanding, vanilla and white pepper wereperfectly balanced by ripe cherry and raspberry flavors. The finish lingered nicelyand had layers of cream soda notes and ripe berry flavors to finish out thetasting experience. This is a great everyday pinot for the money.
This is a versatile red that can be used with many differentmenu ideas. It is light enough that you could use it in place of a white winefor many menus. We enjoyed our bottle with grilled salmon. The light flavors ofthe fish were a perfect compliment to the soft raspberry flavors of the wine. You could also use it with grilled chicken or pork, but keep the sauces lightas to not overwhelm the delicate flavors of the wine.
