2006 Mia's Playground Russian River Pinot Noir, California $26

This wine starts with a great nose full of fresh raspberry scents that are a tease to what is in the bottle. The body is full of dripping cherry flavors with a slight hint of peppery notes. Those who think Pinot Noir is too spicy and hot with pepper flavors will change their opinion after sampling this wine. It's perfectly balanced with the right amount of fruit and spice, making for extremely easy drinking. The smooth finish is wonderful and slides across the tongue like velvet holding on to the taste buds for the next sip.

This Pinot Noir is a great wine for mushroom lovers. Pair it with a medley of wild mushrooms in a thyme-cream sauce served over penne pasta, Peking duck, stir-fried mushrooms and mixed vegetables with jasmine rice, or grilled Arctic Char with baby bok choy and broccolini.

This wine is made from small lots of wine grown in the Russian River Valley in California. The great thing about sourcing the wine from different area is that each year you get a consistent wine. The project is ran by Don Sebastiani and his two sons and now produce over two million cases of wine combined in all the different projects they control. Anything from these guys is always a great value.

Cheers!
